Sam sat on the cabin’s full-sized bed in his slacks and socks. He tugged at his undershirt where it clung uncomfortably to his gut, and looked out the tiny porthole. Sam could barely make out the swelling ocean in the dark. The ship tilted in the trough of a particularly deep wave that sprayed flecks of salt water against the glass.
He frowned at the view. For ten million dollars a ticket, Sam had hopped for something more luxurious. Then again, the Allegiant counted Europe’s absolute wealthiest among its passengers, and as his wife Margaret always liked to say: “Rich is relative.”
