Troubleshooting Help
This guide will help you fix the biggest problems users encounter with email delivery, notifications, and managing your subscription.
First and foremost, I’d like to extend a huge thank you to those of you who subscribe to Cole’s Chapters. If you haven’t yet, and you want to, boom:

Fixing the Log-out Bug
Many readers over at my other publication, Cole’s Climb, have been having some issues staying logged in. You shouldn’t have to re-input your password every time you want to tap the like button, or share your thoughts in the comments.
You certainly shouldn’t have to do it to access content you already paid for. I understand I am just one part of your busy day. I’m trying to entertain you, not give you homework.
For the best experience, I recommend downloading the Substack app. I think it offers a much better reader experience. It’s how I personally read the many Substacks I subscribe to. Here are some of the big perks:
You don’t have to worry about me landing in your spam folder by mistake
Fixes an issue that causes some readers to have to log in repeatedly
Work from the creators you want to follow, is centralized in one place; no need to doom scroll or wade through social media sludge
You can turn on notifications, so you’re alerted whenever a new story comes out
How to Access your Settings
You can make changes to your subscription settings by clicking on your picture in the top right corner of the screen. Scroll down to “manage subscription” in the dropdown menu":
Here, you’ll be able to adjust your subscription plan. Mine says lifetime membership because this is my publication.
Manage Notifications
Under your subscription page (see above,) you will actually be able to make changes to your account. You can also adjust the notifications you receive from me.
If You Wish to Unsubscribe
On your screen, at the bottom of the Notifications section, there will be a bed button that says “unsubscribe.”
Subscribed, but not Getting Emails?
These two steps are the most fool proof:
Send an email to coleschapters@substack.com just saying hi. This is a handy trick that reminds your email filter that I am in fact a person, not just a faceless company sending you marketing materials. If that doesn’t work:
Go into your email account and add coleschapters@substack.com to your address book/contacts. If you’ve already done step one, you may find the address has been added to your contacts automatically
If the problem persists, Substack itself can probably help get things resolved. Shoot an email to support+coleschapters@substack.com
