Wyatt heard the alarm well before spotting tower number nine. The high pitched whistle mixed with the nonstop ringing of a firehouse bell, echoed off the flat block buildings lining the tight streets. Honorable mention for the sound that would herald the end of the world, Wyatt thought.
He past the freight elevator, illuminated in glowing red caution lights, and parked beneath a sign marked “security checkpoint.” Wyatt adjusted the body camera mounted to his chest. There would be hell to pay if he didn’t tape the entire clean-up. The recording light was flashing. Good. Wyatt took a deep breath, grimaced in anticipation, and opened the car door.
The alarm was even louder without the protective layer of glass. Wyatt reached for the radio on his lapel. “Alright, who’s in charge here? Over.”
